Chinese Pastors Call for Prayers Amid the nCoV Epidemic

-

Pastors in China call for prayers and uplift the morale of people as the country battles the 2019 novel coronavirus epidemic. Instead of agitating the public with scary news about the 2019-nCov, Chinese pastors use this opportunity to spread God’s word, ask for prayers and remind Christians to remain steadfast in their faith, reports TheWorldNews.net.

An anonymous Chinese pastor from Wuhan penned an open letter about the situation in the quarantined city. He wrote a letter filled with the strength of his faith, encouraging everyone to believe in God’s love for His children.

The situation is so critical, yet [we are] trusting in the Lord’s promises, that his thoughts toward us are of peace, and not evil (Jeremiah. 29:11). —A Wuhan Pastor

The letter started with how his family and church face the crisis. His family has collected masks and food and they lessen the times of going outside their home.

He wrote: “The situation is so critical, yet [we are] trusting in the Lord’s promises, that his thoughts toward us are of peace, and not evil (Jeremiah. 29:11), and that he allows for a time of testing, not to destroy us, but to establish us. Therefore, Christians are not only to suffer with the people of this city, but we have a responsibility to pray for those in this city who are fearful, and to bring to them the peace of Christ.”

Wuhan is the capital of Central China’s Hubei province. It is classified as a “New Tier 1 City,” and is a major transportation and manufacturing hub. So far, the coronavirus has killed 492 people and infected more than 24,500 others worldwide.

A social media account, Glory to the Lord Christ, posted a video showing Christians giving away masks and religious pamphlets along the streets in the city, reports Singaporean Christian website, Salt and Light. The believers told the few passersby, “We are Christians.” and “God bless you.” The Christians believe that God is using the nCoV crisis as a way for believers to “bear a wonderful testimony for Him.”

Wuhan Root and Fruit Christian Church used YouTube to calm down fears and encourage people to rely on God’s greatness.

“We may not be able to leave this city of Wuhan, but we can still draw near to our Lord God,” said senior pastor, Reverend Huang Lei in the recorded video. “No matter the circumstances, His guidance and love is always with us.”

He added that, “That is the difference between us and those who do not know God: We can trust in this unchanging God who gives us peace, and joy, and eternal life.”
