Former Nickelodeon star turned youth pastor Kel Mitchell now adds another accomplishment in his bio. The two-time Emmy Award-nominated actor has joined Pray.com, a prayer and faith-based app, as a voice talent for its Bedtime Bible Stories. In the series, he reads the Sermon on the Mount from Matthew 5, one of the most popular stories of the Bible. In the sermon, Jesus taught his followers the Lord’s Prayer, the Beatitudes and He encouraged his disciples to their mission as a large crowd gathered to listen.
“Prayer and time with God are so important to do every day,” said 44-year-old Mitchell. “Finding time to unwind, de-stress and just relax in the word of God is such a blessing! This is why I am so excited about partnering with Pray.com. Prayer is a priority.”
Mitchell joins a stellar list of voice actors reading Bible passages, leading prayers and Bible Lessons, including James Earl Jones, Lecrae, Drew Brees and Charlton Heston.

Max Bard, VP of Content at Pray.com, had nothing but praises for Mitchell. “Partnering with Kel is an absolute pleasure. His knowledge of the Bible brought incredible inspiration to the project and has really produced an amazing Bedtime Bible Story,” he shared. “Kel has a phenomenal voice for bedtime stories. I remember even while we were recording in the studio, our audio engineer had mentioned it was one of the most relaxed recording sessions on which he had ever worked.”
Mitchell is currently executive producing and appearing in the new iteration of the beloved Nickelodeon series All That, the award-winning show that gave him his big break in show business. Additionally, he is the host of two animal-oriented TV shows: Tails of Valor, a series about true stories of service animals working to change people’s lives; and Best Frieds Furever, true stories of dogs who are best pals not only with humans, but with a variety of different animal species.
Recently, Mitchell released a 90 Day Devotional entitled, Blessed Mode: 90 Days to Level up your Faith, which debuted in the Top 25 Books in Christian Youth Ministry. His next book called Prank Day will be released on September 6 and is aimed to entertain kids and tweens as they explore their imaginations.
From being a household name in the 90s, Mitchell is now a vocal advocate of Jesus. He shares his Christian faith through his social media where he has 1.1 million followers in Instagram and almost half a million in Facebook.
“I want people to see how I got through things in my life,” he said in an interview. “I have been in this business a long time and I feel like they should see God in me, and I would be doing people a disservice if I didn’t show them the way to the light.”
