Bible experts disclosed that the location of a planned megacity in Saudi Arabia might have been the site where Moses received the Ten Commandments.

The Doubting Thomas Research Foundation released a documentary, Finding the Mountain of Moses: The Real Mount Sinai in Saudi Arabia, which claims that the Jabal al Lawz peak was the site mentioned in the book of Exodus. Scholars believed that the 8,460-ft peak near the Jordanian border was the place where the Israelites sought refuge after fleeing Egypt, reports The Sun.

If all of us don’t take action, Saudi construction in the area may destroy key evidence and prevent excavation for the foreseeable future. —Ryan Mauro, The Doubting Thomas Research Foundation

Historians are still debating on the exact location of Mount Sinai. However, documentary presenter Ryan Mauro said pieces of evidence found at the Jabal al Lawz peak point to important events in the Bible.

Mauro explained that the blackened top of the peak is where God descended on the mountain “as of fire.” A plinth at the base of the mountain, Mauro claimed, was where the early Israelites made and worshiped the Golden Calf. The documentary also claimed to have found an ancient mass grave believed to be where the calf worshipers were buried.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman approved the construction of a new mega-city, Neom, that is expected to cover 10,230-square-miles and costs $500 billion to build.

Mauro warns, “If all of us don’t take action, Saudi construction in the area may destroy key evidence and prevent excavation for the foreseeable future.”
